Gray Hair

Yes, you read that correctly! My hairstylist Angela told me that she found 3 gray hairs last time she colored my hair. To be honest I didn't really believe here. WELL! I went to the hot springs today with my friend Amy and all of a sudden she yells, "Don't move!" and yanks a bright white hair out of my head! Yikes! I don't think it's normal to have a gray hair at 27 years old! Ugh!

Sadie's New Friend, Zoe

Matt's friend Matt (a.k.a. Marty) had dinner with us last night and brought his sweet dog, Zoe over. Sadie has made a new friend!

Weekends in Colorado!

Matt and I enjoyed a couple of hours at the hot springs this past Saturday. It was so nice to relax in the hot pool and admire the snowy mountains around us. We are pretty lucky to be so close to the natural hot springs! My only complaint is the price, we should get a Glenwood Springs local price...but I definitely have no room to complain considering how lucky we are to have it!

It started to snow pretty hard at about 5 PM on Saturday night, so I decided to give up my Pullman (restaurant) shift to go skiing with Matt. We woke up nice and early Sunday morning and made it to Sunlight Ski Resort when it opened. The parking lot was PACKED! Everyone else had the same idea. Everyone is chomping at the bit because of how little snow we have had. We were able to be some of the first to enjoy a fresh 15 inches of powder! After our first run we ran into our friends Nate and Jenna, who I work with. Nate is an adventurous skier like Matt and Jenna likes to take it a little slower like myself, so it couldn't have worked out more perfectly. Nate and Matt could go enjoy their crazy runs and Jenna and I didn't have to ski by ourselves and had great conversation! Overall, it was a great weekend!

Friday!

Learning about place value!
Friday has come again! We are a little over half way through the year and this is the time where I get to see some of my students soar. It is so fun to watch when things just click. Today, I gave some of my high achievers a challenging activity and they loved it. It was hard for them, but they worked with each other and figured it out! This also gave me time to work with some of my kids on counting money! Ok, enough about that!
Playing a vocabulary game during reading!

We have barely gotten any snow this winter! =( Way less than last year! Matt and I always get ski passes to Sunlight, which is a nearby ski resort, through the school district and so far we have gone ONE time. We got a little snow last weekend and are hoping to get more tomorrow. I am going up there no matter what tomorrow...might be going down once and then relaxing at the lodge for the rest of the time, but either way, I am going! In all honesty, I really would like the practice. I am still very afraid of skiing and I would like to get better, especially before the Expert Sayre Family ski trip!!! =)
Must be rough!

I hope you all have had a great week and enjoy your weekend!

Just Another Day...

"Ms. Moynihan, I miss you on the weekends!" - One of the many reasons I love my job!

Today was another wonderful, yet chaotic day in the classroom. It's always hard to get the students back on schedule and to follow the routines and procedures after a weekend, especially a 3 day one. Nevertheless, it was a productive day! My favorite part about today was the lesson on Martin Luther King. To help them understand how African American people were treated, I favored the boys over the girls by allowing the boys to sit up front during a read aloud and giving them stickers afterwards. The girls were NOT amused and were questioning my every move, which is what I anticipated. It was a great way to show how the African Americans felt during MLK time. The students wrote about their dreams/wishes for their family, school, and world...pictures to come =)!

The icy roads and thick fog made me very uneasy on my drive to school. There is a mountain that I pass, in Newcastle, called The Burning Mountain. The combination of that mountain, the cold air and the CO river results in the thickest fog I have ever seen. It looks like you are going to hit a white wall. Thank goodness it only lasts for about 5 minutes!

Matt and I are ending our night with homemade tamales from a mom at my school and an ON DEMAND movie! Happy Tuesday! Goodnight!

BIEBER Fever!

Well, I lied about not posting past events, but I know my family and friends will be entertained by this one! Some fellow teachers and I decided to lip-sync a Bieber song for a school assembly! It was very nerve racking, but very worth it!
